Rounding Up The First Season

With our promotion from the Blue South Square and winning of the historic FA Cup, Russel has decided to give the go ahead to make the stadium an all-seater, while expanding parts of the stadium to more then double the current capacity! This is a much welcomed decision from our growing fan base as we garner more and more sellouts in our recent matches. BZSE FC has definitely made an impact on the footballing world!

As excited as I was, however, I voiced out my concerns of our club's ailing finances. The planned expansion work will cost us a huge chunk of money, more then 3 times of the prize money that we have won so far.
Indeed, after crunching the numbers, I discovered that our club made a loss of 490,029 pounds this season.
Russel asked me not to worry too much about it, though. You take care of what happens on the pitch and I'll handle the rest, he assured me.

WINNERS!

Others

With a number of bright youth prospects emerging from the club, BZSE FC recently announced a link with Chorley to send the players out on loan anytime. Burnley also linked up with us as a parent club, although it seems unlikely that we'll use their loan places, except for times of an emergency injury crisis that I hope won't hit us..

Also, the fans have spoken!

The value of all our players have also increased quite immensely!

And that the end of our season, all the players are on their holidays, perhaps I should take one too..

Meanwhile, in the Premier Division..

Manchester United edge over City by 1 point, while Tottenham takes a surprise 3rd place.

Arsenal, not surprisingly, find themselves at the 9th position..

We won the league! We won the freaking BSS league with 8 games to spare! Now, that's an achievement!

1st Jan 2012

We're halfway through the season so far, and this is how we stand!

BSS League Table, 21 games in..
For a brand new team that's supposed to be in for the drop this season, we're not doing too bad I'd say!
We're even through to the FA Cup, getting past Cheshunt to qualify easily, and beating Harrogate for a sweet 3-0 victory!

The players are performing mighty well too, having the most goals scored and the least conceded so far!

Player statistics in the following order:
Appearances, Goals scored, Assists made, Man of the Match, Pass completion rate, Tackles made, Attacking dribbles made per game, Shots on target, Yellow and Red cards received, and Average rating.

With the squad performing so well, it's no surprise that the valuation of most of the players have gone up, with no less then 4 of them being wanted by other clubs already! Granted, it's not Barcelona or Arsenal going after these youngsters, but it definitely shows the growing interest in the players of our club. Jovan is recently injured as well, and the specialist rules him out for 2-3 months for his torn hamstring. Pity, he is one of the most creative players on the pitch for us..

Interest from other clubs:
Barnet is currently scouting Joel and Adam and has major interest in making a bid
Cambridge has recently made a transfer bid of 5k for Derek which was rejected.
Bristol City, Chesterfield and Doncaster is looking to bring Mao De away from BZSE FC and he's already unsettled from all the recent media attention. (Stupid man)

Last but not least, 14 of our players have done enough over here at BZSE FC to attract the attention of the U21 team back in Singapore to earn their first few start for the youth team, with Kenneth, Joshua and Joel getting their name on the score sheet!

AMC: Joshua(Marcus 57)
MC: Jovan, JiaJun

In this friendly, I was trying out my 4-1-2-1-2 formation for the first time.

4-2-1-2- Diamond

Both fullbacks were given a high attacking mentality and were instructed to hug the line, bombing down the flanks and provide the necessary width that this formation lacks. Since the fullbacks functioned more like a wingback, the defenders were asked to defend deep(marked by the white rectangle) and mark the zone instead. The defensive midfielder works together with the defensive to act as an anchorman to deny balls from reaching the opposing strikers.

Midfield works in a narrow diamond formation to retain possession and knock the ball around until there is an opening for the AMC. As you can see from the picture above of the match against Castell Alun, there are many attacking options for the AMC once he gets the ball. 1.) To play the ball into the box for the two waiting strikers, 2.) To push the ball out to the flanks so that the fullback can deliver a cross, and 3.) To dribble into the box himself for striking options.

Although this tactic works well offensively, the scoreline shows us that there are glaring problems in the defenses. Two of the goals were scored from counter-attacks which is a huge problem since there are only two defenders at the back and if one of them gets beaten, the opposing strikers will outnumber the people at the back. While Timothy does his role well of pressuring and winning balls in the middle of the park, his slow pace means that he is often unable to arrive back in time during a counter-attack.

7th July 2011

Friendly: BZSE FC- St Asaph

Starting Lineup:
STC: Marcus(Kenneth 37)
AMC: Gary(Danial 21)
AMR: Joel [inj] (Joshua 45)
ML: Maode
MC: JiaJun(c)
DM: Jovan(Timothy 76)
DL: Nicholas
DC: Eric, Adam
DR: Jefred
GK: Han

Assists:
Maode (5)
Jiajun (8)
Gary (15)
Nicholas (45+3)
Joshua (85)

The tactic worked to perfection!

How 4-2-3-1 asymmetrical works.

Grey: Right flank(Joel, Jefred, Jiajun, Jovan) holds up play and passes ball around to draw opponent towards the ride side of the field

Purple: Main striker(Marcus) man-marked by defender, unable to get into position

Red: When defenders are drawn towards the right side of the field, play is switched to the left

Blue: Left winger(Maode) runs into ball with lots of space available; second striker(Gary) goes in to support; fullback(Nicholas) runs into the box late for further support
